A little about FTS Racing
Sandy Montgomery is Vice President of Foam To Size Inc. in Ashland Virginia. This is how the FTS Racing name came to be. He runs the family business with the help of his father Al, his Mom Virginia and sister Robin. After running the family business for more than twenty years and helping his wife, Kim, continue to raise their three children, the biggest relief and relaxation Sandy enjoyed was hunting. He used that quiet time just to think and plan things out.
Sandy relaxed until he hired Bob Moore. That’s when the racing bug hit. Bringing back the days of working on hot rods in the yard and under a tree with his grandfather and watching his big brother John work on the mustangs. Bob, along with Scott Moore, have been avid racers for a very long time and it didn’t take long to get Sandy hooked. His first big project was to enlist the help of his oldest son Ross along with Bob and Scott Moore to make a street rod out of the 1969 mustang his dad had kept for him since he was sixteen. In the process he started helping Scott with his drag car and Scotts dad Bob with his 1950 chevy. The race fever hasn’t stopped yet as they continue to look for ways to make a little more horse power and cut down those ET’S.
In 2007, Sandy started helping friends and neighbors Dan Osborne and Grayson Murphy as they went full bore into the drag race mode. With a pair of 69 corvettes, then a pair of 63 corvettes and the amazing help from Tommy Johns and Calvin Butler it has been one of the most enjoyable and great learning experiences his says he has had.
After looking at race sites all over the internet he decided to start one of his own. With the help of Ruth and Jay Campbell of Jade Enterprises, the FTS Racing site has taken shape. This site is for good folks looking for a place to talk about racing in a family friendly environment that even the kids can feel safe to view. Sandy hopes it will be a place that racers can come to discuss what is going on in the race world and see what others are doing as well.
Sandy is looking forward to the coming years of racing and fellowshipping with his family and friends in this great sport of drag racing. We hope to continue to grow the site in 2010.
